MULTIPOTENTIALITE: the ability and preference of a person, particularly one of strong intellectual or artistic curiosity, to excel in two or more different fields
A Strange Life of Service
Gopal Metro was raised at Satchidananda Ashram, where he was trained to be a Youth Ambassador for World Peace. From the ages of 9-13, while studying at the Yogaville Vidyalayam (Temple Of Learning) he trained to be a monk of the Satchidananda Saraswati order. Today, he teaches Foundations of Integral Yoga, focusing on Bhakti, Raja, Jnana, Japa, Karma and Hatha yogas, to any who is curious.
In a strange twist of fate, at 10 years old he discovered gothic rock and industrial music, which later in life led him to found multiple musical projects in those genres. Bella Morte, the first project that he named and founded, is currently listed as #71 in the The Best Gothic Rock Bands/Artists Of All Time list, #54 in the The Best Industrial Metal Bands Of All Time list and #17 in The Best Deathrock Bands Of All Time list on Ranker.com.
In 1995, he sat at his first mixing desk and, over the many years since, he has honed his craft to razor fine quality. He has had the joy and pleasure of serving as 2nd engineer under Grammy Award winning producer Kevin McNoldy of Cphonic and the incredibly brilliant John Morrand of Sound of Music, both of whom have well over 100 engineering credits to each of their names. Gopal has also run Front Of House sound for Grammy Award Nominees Krishna Das and Jai Uttal and Billboard Hot 100 and Deutsch Alternative Charts toppers The Cruxshadows, amongst many, many others. He now owns Gopal Metro Studios, where he mixes, re-mixes, produces and masters songs and albums from artists across a wide spectrum of styles, including singer-songwriter, gospel, kirtan, blues, heavy metal, spoken word and his specialties of gothic rock, EDM and industrial.
In 2010, Gopal went back to school and earned a Music Business Administration degree from Full Sail University, graduating as Valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA and earning the Advanced Achiever Award and 12 distinct Course Director's Awards (more than nearly any other student in the history of the school). Upon graduation, he founded the consulting firm Technology | Strategy | Design, where he developed business, marketing and product strategies for entrepreneurs, startups and independent artists.
Technology has served as a touchstone in every element of Gopal's life. At the age of 9, he discovered the BREAK key while playing Zork I and hacked his first hardware, converting a Sony walkman into a TRS-80 Model 1 tape drive. Again, honing his interests over the past 30 years, he now specializes in Proof of Concept (POC) rapid prototyping and design, web application development, cross-discipline user experience design and open-source technology education. He has founded multiple multimedia companies, holds patent number 10376142, and serves as business strategist and technology advisor for companies in the biomedical, human/machine interface, and music industries.
His most recent endeavor is the Sacred Spaces Project, and 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to capturing and recording sacred sites and sacred ceremonies from all across the globe using immersive VR technologies, with a strong focus on historical preservation and interfaith awareness, education and acceptance.
At every phase of his life, Gopal has been driven towards service and excellence. Utilizing his uniquely broad spectrum of experience and mastery, Gopal's primary passion, held the highest standard, is helping others understand, define and meet their goals.
